[During all the social works, all the members who were involved/volunteered had followed the instructions as prescribed by the Govt. for the prevention of COVID-19 and the work had been carried out with due permission from the competent authority]
In this village, most of the residents are economically poor and they live mostly from hand to mouth. The area is a low lying land besides a small riven and mostly belongs to the tribal area which is within Kandi sub-division/ zone (~ 15 km away from the main town) of Murshidabad districts, west Bengal. During the Corona pandemic, the organization supported around 80 families by providing foods and some essential groceries items. Besides this, the organization also helped in distributing tree saplings to the villagers for ‘green environment’ and also strengthen their barrage to prevent the flood.
The organization has again distributed food grains and some essential groceries items to almost 70 families and study kits (like note book, pen etc.) to almost 40 students of Harinagar and Shibpur village of tribal society and economically challenged families under khargram block. Some essential guidance on the precaution for hygiene, need of education, need of more tree planting have been discussed in front of the villagers.
In the Kandi area, almost 20 families had been supported by the organization and a mini food packet containing food grains, some essential groceries, biscuits etc had been provided to each of the family. The families are from Nepal and they used to earn by providing night guard duty which is at stake during this corona pandemic.
The organization had distributed food grains and some essential groceries items to almost 100 families. The organization has also survey the village and discussed for future livelihood plan for the villagers to uplift their economy by helping to improve the quality of the handicraft (by taking help from professional in the associated fields) and selling those in the market.
The organization had provided study kits in which hard copies of study materials (as per the website of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education for the classes from V to XII) with notebook, pen, pencil etc. to the 150 numbers of needy students (from V to XII), mostly from the economically challenged family and very less or no possibility to get accesses the study materials from the website, residing in the villages in the Kandi Subdivision, Murshidabad to facilitate for continuing their study. The organization also provides them the contact number of Subject Specialists so that the students can discuss on any problem in any subject and get answer from their home.
